Tony Krebs finds fulfillment in Digital Media Studio
Ames, Iowa — Tony Krebs walked into the Digital Media Studio with a rough idea of what he wanted to accomplish but was unsure where to start. After consulting with the makerspace supervisors and completing some quick tutorials on the tools offered, Krebs was off and running on his hobby scholarship video.
Krebs says, “I first covered bowling. Second, I went into genealogy, and then my outfits I’ve been doing since I was 16.”
He utilized multiple rooms in the makerspace, including the 5.1 audio room, the podcast room, and the editing desktop. All of them had capabilities that matched exactly what he needed to get the job done. “It was a lot because it was 18 different takes,” says Krebs.
Krebs admits he hadn’t done any editing like that since high school, so the task felt daunting at first. With continued support from staff, he got the job done. “The staff really helped me out in learning everything. They are amazing,” Krebs says.
By the time he finished, he walked away with an innovative approach to his video presentation and, just as importantly, a feeling of pride and accomplishment. “I don’t think I could have done it at all. I think I watched it like ten times. It was a very proud moment for me to be like, ‘Oh my gosh, I did that!’”
