Ignite LEGO® Challenge

At Iowa State University, our students, faculty, staff, and alumni are constantly raising the bar and leaving their marks through innovative ideas, collaborations, and inventions. Now we’re taking that innovative spirit to the Iowa State Fair!

As part of the Ignite LEGO® Challenge, undergraduate, graduate, faculty, staff, and alumni teams will design a concept, build a prototype, and then go on to build a full-scale model during a timed competition at the Iowa State Fair in August. And it will all be done with LEGO® bricks!

11 Days Showcasing Iowa State’s Innovation

Visit Iowa State University in the Varied Industries Building during the Iowa State Fair, August 12-22, to see creativity, collaboration, and creation in action! Every morning, innovations from different Iowa State University colleges and programs will be highlighted. In the afternoon, our Ignite LEGO® Challenge will kick off with student, faculty, staff, and alumni teams competing for up to $9,000 in prizes. And all day long throughout the duration of the fair, you can watch in real-time as a life-sized statue of alum George Washington Carver is built from LEGO® bricks!
