How to use the Makerspace

Complete online training

Fill out the form below to specify your project or training request. Upon submission, you’ll receive a Canvas invitation for mandatory EHS safety training that must be finished before registering for hands-on training or accessing the Makerspace.

Hands-on training

Once you’ve completed the online training, you must complete a hands-on training with the shop supervisor. Register for a Making 101 Hands-on Training for your chosen piece of equipment.

If you have questions please email sictrwoodmetal@iastate.edu.

Start creating

After finishing the hands-on training, you will be issued a badge for that machine and you’re free to utilize that equipment for your personal projects, class assignments, prototyping, and more. Your creative journey begins!

Submissions must be made at least 48 hours prior to requested reservation time.

Canvas Enrollment Request: Metal and Wood Shop 2024

  • Must use an Iowa State University (@iastate.edu) address.
  • This will determine which Canvas courses you are added to to complete the online SOPs.
