These guidelines outline requirements and specifications for all signage displayed in the Student Innovation Center.
Guidelines
- All messages must be related to Iowa State University and pertain directly to students and/or the University audience.
- The event must be hosted in or sponsored by the Student Innovation Center to be eligible for display.
- Event must have been scheduled through our Event Request Form and/or be documented with our Event Coordinator before signage is displayed.
- If your event was scheduled for one of the university classrooms through room scheduling, please let us know by emailing event details to sictrevents@iastate.edu so that our Event Coordinator can document the event and your messages can be displayed.
- General meetings or recurring activities may be posted periodically, typically on the recurring event day. Specific recurring dates must be requested and included in the Signage Request Form. Please note that recurring requests are not guaranteed.
- All signage must be approved by the Student Innovation Center.
Requirements
- Please submit all requests through the Signage Request Form at least one week before the first day you would like it to be displayed.
- Please include the event’s name, date, time, and location in your signage designs.
Specifications
Please review the specifications for the signage you are requesting below.
Jumbotron and Digital Displays
- Must meet all signage guidelines listed above.
- May be displayed for up to 2 weeks before the event.
- File format must be JPG or PNG.
- Dimensions must be 1920px w x 1080px h (16:9 aspect ratio).
Printed Signage
- Per the Iowa State University Facilities and Grounds Use Policy, posters, advertisements, or other visual display materials are not allowed to be placed on or around the building.
- Exceptions may be made if extra signage is needed for way-finding purposes. Please indicate your request for day-of directional signage on the Event Request Form.
- When an exception has been granted by the Student Innovation Center, the following guidelines apply:
- Must meet all signage guidelines listed above.
- May be displayed on the day(s) of the event only.
- Printing costs and coordination are your responsibility.
- A limited number of signage stands in the following dimensions are available on a first-come, first-served basis:
- 8.5″ x 11″
- Designs can be Vertical or Horizontal.
- Can be printed on material of your choice.
- 11″ x 17″
- Designs can be Vertical or Horizontal.
- Can be printed on material of your choice.
- 22″ w x 28″ h
- Designs must be Vertical.
- Must be printed on 40mil polystyrene (a thin, sturdy plastic).
- If an exception is granted and no stands are available, painter’s tape may be used to hang wayfinding signage.
- 8.5″ x 11″
Outdoor Sandwich Boards/A-Frames
- Must meet all guidelines listed above.
- May be displayed for up to one week before the event.
- May only be displayed outdoors at the east and west entrances.
- Up to two sandwich board frames are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Printing costs and coordination are your responsibility.
- Dimensions must be 24″ w x 35″ h.
- Can be printed on material of your choice.
- Note: Outdoor signage will be exposed to the elements.
