Student Organizations

Meet our Student Organizations

The Student Innovation Center is home to student organizations, including the Gaffer’s Guild and PrISUm, that utilize our assembly bays, dynamometer engine testing shop, composites shop, and more to innovate. The center also welcomes a variety of organizations to use office space within its walls each semester, as it’s the perfect place to gather, collaborate, and create.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days a week are organizations able to use the office? How many student organizations will be assigned to each room?

The number of organizations assigned and the days available for organizations to use the room are dependent on how many organizations request the space. We encourage you to apply for all days and times you want to utilize the office, and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.

What rooms are designated as shared student organization offices? What are the room capacities?

0104 (6), 0106 (6), 2239 (8), 2251 (10), 2253 (8), 3133 (8), 3135 (10).

For activities requiring larger capacities, organizations can request a meeting room reservation. Events hosted in the center by student organizations can be arranged here.

What is included in the rooms?

Each room features a table, desk, chairs, a standing/rolling whiteboard, and storage cubbies. Every room has a different setup, so if you have a specific need in the space we would encourage you to note that in your office request.

What storage options are there in the rooms?

The rooms include cubbies that will be assigned to organizations assigned to that space. Organizations are responsible for providing their own lock. The Student Innovation Center and Iowa State University are not responsible and/or liable for the loss or theft of, or damage to, any property belonging to the student organization and/or its members and/or associates.

How often do organizations need to renew the office space?

At this time, the Student Innovation Center offices will need to be renewed every academic year. However, since the offices are newly available, it is possible this and other policies will be reconsidered as needs change. We will notify organizations when renewals need to be made.

Are these rooms available as study rooms when not being used by organizations?

Prior to Spring 2022, the offices were available on a first-come, first-served basis as study rooms. However, once assigned to organizations, the rooms will be locked when not in use by organizations and will be dedicated for organization use only. Organizations will be provided a key to the office space and will be responsible for ensuring the room is locked and closed after use.
