Creativity Carnival: Ideas Unleashed

AMES, Iowa — On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Iowa State University’s Student Innovation Center first floor transformed into a vibrant display of activities, creativity, treats and fun. The inaugural event was meant to spark creative ideas through a variety of interactive activities where students could collect house-made tokens to win prizes.
Here’s a glimpse of the exciting happenings:
Scrap Art: Students transformed discarded scraps from the Makerspaces into stunning works of art, showcasing their creativity and resourcefulness. The Makerspaces shop supervisors were on hand to assist with assembly and do some basic hand tool trainings. Creations will be on display in the Student Innovation Center atrium until Friday, March 8th.
Circle Challenge: Participants competed to fill 24 circles with imaginative objects, pushing the boundaries of creativity. The timed competition was meant to spur idea generation and thinking outside the “circle.”
Brainstorm Blitz: Students engaged in brainstorming sessions to help solve real-world challenges. Ideas were shared on sticky notes and highlighted student’s innovative ideas to make the world a better. The goal was to spark students to engage with the upcoming Innovation Fund Challenge.
Virtual Reality Ride: Participants donned VR headsets for thrilling roller coaster experience under the sea. The Digital Modeling and Visualization Lab is open to all students to experiment with AR/VR technologies.
Creative Photo Contest: Novices and seasoned photographers alike submitted photos that ignited sparks of creativity and inspiration. Congrats to the winners!
